Subject: Call for Site Bids, 2026 SIAM Conference on Optimization
Call for site preliminary bids: 2026 SIAM Conference on Optimization
The board of the SIAM Activity Group on Optimization is calling for
pre-proposals to host and jointly organize with SIAM the 2026 SIAM
Conference on Optimization (SIOPT 2026). This solicitation is open to
optimization research groups in any continent. Given the previous
locations, applications from outside North America are particularly
encouraged. The SIOPT conference is held every three years and is the
flagship event of our SIAG on Optimization. The conference is usually
held in the last weeks of May. SIOPT 2023 has counted with more than
1000 participants. SIAM will support the conference, including use of
SIAM's abstract submission system, provision of the official
conference website siam.org, and production of the conference
program. SIAM will either have sole financial control (including risk)
of the conference or be in partnership with a local institution.
Preliminary bids should be brief and contain information pertaining to
the location, facilities, logistics (accommodation and
transportation), likely local organizers, and factors that impact
registration fees such as the availability of discounted meeting space
or potential local sponsors. Preliminary bids will be examined by the
SIAG/OPT and SIAM Officers, which will then decide the next steps to
be taken. A final decision will be made by the end of 2023. The
selected bid will be asked to fill out the proposal form available
under "SIAM Activity Group Conference" on the following page:

Network Information Systems: A Dynamical Systems Approach

This text presents a unique treatment of network control
systems. Drawing from fundamental principles of dynamical systems
theory and dynamical thermodynamics, the authors develop a
continuous-time, discrete-time, and hybrid dynamical system and
control framework for linear and nonlinear large-scale network
systems. The proposed framework extends the concepts of energy,
entropy, and temperature to undirected and directed information
networks. Continuous-time, discrete-time, and hybrid thermodynamic
principles are used to design distributed control protocol algorithms

Errors in Algebraic Processes was the first book to give systematic
analyses of the effects of rounding errors on a variety of key
computations involving polynomials and matrices. A detailed analysis
is given of the rounding errors made in the elementary arithmetic
operations and inner products, for both floating-point arithmetic and
fixed-point arithmetic. The results are then applied in the error
analyses of a variety of computations involving polynomials as well as
the solution of linear systems, matrix inversion, and eigenvalue
computations. The conditioning of these problems is investigated.
The aim was to provide a unified method of treatment, and emphasis is
placed on the underlying concepts.

The Centre for Advanced Computational Science in the Department of
Computer Science and Mathematics at Manchester Metropolitan University
is inviting applications for a funded 3-year PhD studentship.
The project involves the use of reinforcement learning, optimal
control and computer vision techniques to understand the causal link
between genotype and phenotype in Hypertrophic
Cardiomyopathy. Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathies (HCM) are a group of
familial heart diseases and occur in about one in every 500
births. They are the most common cause of sudden cardiac death in
young athletes and adolescents. The mutations that cause HCM cause the
walls of the heart to thicken and stiffen making it harder for the
heart to pump blood out of the heart and around the body. The
consequences range from fainting, irregular heart rhythms, blood flow
obstruction and sudden death.
The overarching goal is to use a unique combination of reinforcement
learning, optimal control and computer vision techniques, and
algorithms to develop intelligent models to reproduce experimentally
observed HCM behaviour at the subcellular, cellular and tissue
levels. This will be used (1) to understand the causative link between
genotype and phenotype in HCM and other fundamental underlying
mechanisms, and (2) to identify possible therapeutic pathways to
improve patient conditions and quality of life.

collaborative research center TRR 154: Mathematical Modeling,
Simulation and Optimization Using the Example of Gas Networks. The
collaborative research center is an interdisciplinary endeavor between
the Weierstrass Institute, Humboldt University of Berlin, Technical
University of Berlin, Technical University of Darmstadt, and
Friedrich-Alexander University in Erlangen Nuremberg. The project
investigates the coupling of market aspects with the dynamics of gas
transport, subject to uncertainty. The research comprises
characterizing market equilibria in a game-theoretical context and
developing efficient algorithms for their solution. In addition to
analytical considerations, an emphasis will be placed on the
implementation of the developed algorithms. We are looking for

field with a strong background in optimization and partial
